The Sydney Roosters are proud to unveil the Club’s 1976 Retro Edition Jersey, commemorating 50 years since one of the most influential moments in Australian sporting history.
Fans can personalise their jersey with their favourite player’s name and number, thanks to UNIBET.
The jersey celebrates the 50th anniversary of a landmark moment in Australian sport, when Nick Politis AM introduced City Ford as the first commercial sponsor to appear on the front of a playing jersey in Australia.

The original jersey debuted during the inaugural World Club Challenge in 1976, where the Roosters defeated St Helens 25-2 at the SCG.
That victory marked the beginning of the World Club Challenge, with the Roosters going on to become the competition’s most successful club with five championship titles.
The Retro Edition features the Club’s original heritage logo and faithfully recreates the look of the historic 1976 design.

Current Roosters partners have embraced the initiative, with BYD Auto recreating the original City Ford branding style and other partners adopting heritage-inspired branding treatments.
The jersey celebrates both a defining moment in Rugby League history and the innovation that helped shape the modern sponsorship landscape in Australian sport.
